Soundwaves Festival

/

An inspiring new festival of music featuring some of today’s most exciting composers and performers.

Welcome to Soundwaves.

Over the next few months we will be adding to this website and soon you will be able to look at the entire programme of this brand new festival for contemporary music in Brighton & Hove.

The programme promises to be full of fantastic events. Not only will you be able to hear some outstanding performances of cutting edge music, but we also plan to have a day for amateur musicians to come together to discover and perform new music, an Open Mic Night and the opportunity for young audiences and their parents to experience experimental music in a special Children’s Concert.

Highlights will include Alexander’s Annexe who, with their innovative mix of instrumental performance, electronics and sound artistry, throw off the shackles of genre. Their concert will be preceded by sets from local DJs. The exciting vocal ensemble EXAUDI will team up with the ever innovative Anton Lukoszevieze to bring you an explosive evening of music for three sopranos and cello. Fat Battery will be visiting us from Norway to delight with their experimental improvisations. And Peter Sheppard Skærved and Aaron Shorr will perform music for violin and piano by Turkish and British composers. Young British composers will also be heard in the programmes of the Fidelio Trio and the Kürbis Ensemble.

But there will be much more to excite you, with performances around town and on the seafront, which you might come across on your walks, and local groups including the ever popular Talkestra, the improvisation group In Sand and the University of Sussex’s 21st Century Ensemble.

This will be Soundwaves Festival’s first year which is very exciting for all involved. You can read more about why we set up this festival in the founders’ statement. We are still in the planning stage of the festival so all this information is subject to confirmation.

We look forward to seeing you in June.
